On June 15, Luminaire welcomed internationally renowned designer Naoto Fukasawa to its Chicago Showroom for a special lecture and reception during NeoCon 2010.

Following a captivating lecture at the Museum of Contemporary Art, over 500 guests enjoyed a curated collection of Mr. Fukasawa’s body of work including products for brands such as B&B Italia, Magis, Muji, and Plus Minus Zero which have become sought after design icons.

The dynamic exhibit situated on the third floor of Luminaire’s showroom was the hot spot of the evening. Visitors gazed in amazement upon the comprehensive collection of objects all designed by Mr. Fukasawa. From the impressive Terra Tub for Boffi Spa and the impeccable Grande Papilio Lounge Chair for B&B Italia, to calculators for Plus Minus Zero and a netbook for Samsung, the exhibit examined the cohesive themes between Mr. Fukasawa’s body of work.

Throughout the other levels of the showroom, guests enjoyed mixed drinks and hor d’oeuvres while interacting with additional Fukasawa-designed furniture. The newly released Titikaka outdoor bench for B&B Italia was a popular spot to enjoy the view of the energetic crowd. Among the enthusiasts enjoying the reception were internationally acclaimed designers Jeffrey Bernett and Jean Marie Massaud.

The day began with a private luncheon in honor of Mr. Fukasawa. In attendance were editors and reporters from major design magazines as well as design luminaries such as Zoe Ryan, curator of the Architecture and Design Collection at the Art Institute’s Modern Wing.

Following the luncheon, Mr. Fukasawa personally escorted the attendees through the exhibit, stopping to share stories about each object. A special thanks to our main sponsor, B&B Italia. Additionally, Luminaire thanks the Museum of Contemporary Art, Artek, Boffi, and Plusminuszero.
