Piero Lissoni Beautifies The Human Experience

Piero Lissoni’s light, minimalist designs float through space and enchant the soul.

Piero Lissoni’s light, minimalist designs float through space and enchant the soul. Before all else, Lissoni passionately desires to create an emotionally-charged experience between people and design. And he succeeds. Lissoni creates work where form and function effortlessly harmonize, breathing life to home interiors from Moscow to Bangkok. He transforms environments with pieces that are elegantly conceived and can be personalized to suit any space, such as the Bubble Rock sofa and the Wall series of sofas and beds.

Throughout the years, Lissoni has drawn inspiration from a surprising selection of designers. For instance, the spirit of Poul Kjaerholm is felt in the fluid contour of his Frog chair while his somber Metallico table and LT cabinets for Boffi echo Castiglioni’s visual continuity and considered use of few materials. A close friend of Luminaire, Lissoni shared his philosophy at Luminaire Chicago during NeoCon in 1996. Later, at the launch of the Luminaire Boffi Kitchen and Bath Studio in Coral Gables, the designer also presented the book Liquid Space: 70 Years of Boffi Design.

Once again we are humbled to present Lissoni’s poetry to the public with a pure, minimalist piece crafted in DuPont™ Corian® for the 2011 edition of our philanthropic Love Series, DesignLove.  As a participant in both PuppyLove (2006) and PaperLove (2008), Lissoni has a history of graciously gifting his talents to Luminaire in order to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. We invite you to experience the DesignLove exhibition at the Luminaire Lab from November 28 – December 3, 2011. The online auction opens on November 21, the proceeds of which benefit the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami.
