Terracotta vessels have been used for many decades in hot climates for storing and cooling water. The design takes advantage of the natural cooling properties of terracotta; when soaked in cold water before use the terracotta's porous surface will absorb the water before releasing it slowly over time to bring down the temperature of your wine, or help to maintain the temperature of pre-chilled wine. This carafe features a shiny glaze inside and a textured handle for a better grip.
