Chair One Stacking was designed in 2003 by Konstantin Grcic as a form in die-cast aluminum, a new material both for him and the manufacturer. Exceptionally versatile for both indoor and outdoor use, Chair One is one of the most original and important seating designs to come along in years. Grcic constructed Chair One Stacking with a series of small, flat planes assembled at angles to create a three-dimensional form. The more Grcic worked on the models of the chair, the more he was able to understand its structural logic. The chair legs are polished anodized aluminum and the seat is die-cast aluminum treated with sputtered fluorinated titanium and painted with polyester powder.
