Bench
John Pawson
Originally designed for a 2006 exhibition held in the 12th Cistercian Abbey of Le Thoronet in Provence, each surface of the Bench suggests a particular approach towards its use. The Bench allows one to sit, lay, and lean in the manner of the medieval misericord rooms, which afforded refectory members a quiet space for reflection.
John Pawson conceived the Bench as a single sculptural form, available in black terrazzo concrete, in an edition of 100 and fumed oak in an edition of 25.
