The design concept at Brix offers a dimension of extended intimacy in which shape and content are one and the same. The surfaces create imaginary, metaphysical, and contemporary worlds on architectural designs with shapes that define space and textures that stimulate touch. In Powder, an original creation from acclaimed French designer and interior architect Andrée Putman, the patchwork of porcelain surfaces is as sensuous as it is durable and bears a random mix of gradation. Like an irregular footpath sprinkled with a mysterious substance, the wonderful surface texture and shading meet and form a soft textile aesthetic. Although the surfaces are only intended to play supporting roles as backdrops against the larger environment, each was conceived with a unique intention and design process. At Brix, design without soul is worthless.
