Devoid of ornament, Baptiste Ymonet and Vincent Jousseaume's limited edition Pipeline Carafe features a handle, spout and body which is reduced to cylinders and bricks all crafted by hand from red earthenware. The resulting sculptural object is abstract, with special attention given to proportions and unusual combinations. They echo some of the designers favorite great 20th century artworks: from Malevitch to Sotsass, constructivism, and its more minimalist offshoots. In tune with their fascination with geometry and its complexity, Baptiste and Vincent established a new set of rules to experiment with. Here, for the collection which Pipeline is a part, the designers worked with only three elementary shapes: the circle, the square and the rectangle to create functional objects.
