TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA GIVES SHAPE TO SENSATION
One of the most influential creative minds living in the world today, Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka transformed the way we experience the world around us. His work is characterized by uncanny materials and an extraordinary attention to detail. Yoshioka has spent the past several years investigating the natural of crystals, creating ephemeral work inspired by their structure. A close look at crystal reveals nature as an act of mystery. Design, like nature, is sensation more than it is an object, an opportunity to reflect on the elusive, random quality of our experiences. As Yoshioka once wrote, “It is possible that I am not making things, but rather giving shape to emotional energy.”
Element, a poetic collection of tables and consoles for Desalto, arose from extensive research for the 2007 Crystalizine Project. All design that is Good Design does not require explanation, and Element is no exception. It must be experienced. We invite you to our showroom in the Miami Design District this December to feel how the presence of each piece changes the aura of our space with sensations of awe, mystery, surprise and beauty. We would also love for you to join us as we celebrate Tokujin Yoshioka, his Element collection and good design from around the world on December 5th from 6-9pm at Luminaire Lab.
