An exploration of how far the limits of conventional dining dishes can be pushed, Niche expands upon Zaha Hadid’s architectural investigations and utilizes her design vocabulary to create a set of tabletop dishes constructed of interposable black melamine elements. Ridges emerge and pull away from the horizontal plane of the tabletop, forming a domestic sculpture with formally complex pieces resulting in a unique and sinuous dovetail effect. Five separate dishes make up this piece, which can be nested or arranged in multiple configurations. Each of the dishes can be used as an individual serving container for sweets or nuts, or they may be used on a desk to hold office accessories. Niche has a smooth, matte finish that makes the pieces both pleasing to the touch and easy on the eye.
