Fountain Low Tables
Capturing a moment in time, Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka has created a series of low tables that resemble the flowing water of a fountain frozen in crystal. The Fountain Low Tables are a precious and poetic collection that harmoniously meld the tradition of Murano glass craftsmanship with industrial processes for a dazzling display of design and production. The tables, available in three sizes, utilize different molds, including a separate mold for the base and another for the top. To realize the tables, a sheet of glass disc is transformed into a three-dimensional vase-like form that gives structure to the mass of glass. This form is then topped with a sheet of rounded glass that fits inside the confines of the supporting vessel below. Adding function to the artful concept, the glass disc may be removed to allow access and storage underneath. The process revels in a sense of unexpectedness, as no two tables are exactly alike. This gives an artistic expression to manufacturing that recalls the uncontrolled sensibility of natural creation. The crystal-clear Fountain Low Tables glisten in the light, bringing a sense of movement and life to the interior.
