Bulb Table Lamp

A tribute to the Edison bulb, the oversized Bulb Table Lamp was Ingo Maurer’s first-ever design and the one that launched his company Studio M. Designed in 1966, the work treats the bulb as a remarkable piece of pop art. Met with enthusiastic reception, the design is included in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. Consisting of an oversized hand-blown crystal Murano glass bulb with a chrome plated metal base, the lamp is illuminated by a smaller top-chromated bulb which is made visible within. Tongue planted firmly in cheek, the Bulb Table Lamp embodies the witty, playful spirit of the late 60s, while celebrating Thomas Edison and the simple incandescent bulb.
