Plump Silk Scarf
The distinctive blue color of indigo is amongst the oldest and best known natural dyeing methods in the world. Designed by Japanese indigo artist Tokiko Kajimoto, the Plump Silk Scarf features an applied caustic print grid, a nod to the folding technique used in origami. Made from the ai (indigo) plant and often referred to as Japan Blue, the scarf uses Higashi silk from the Gunma prefecture. The hue recalls the blue of the sea and sky seen in Edo Period woodblock prints. The depth of the color is determined by the number of times the silk is dipped in the dye. Soft and luxurious, the Plump Silk Scarf is presented in a minimalist black box with the Atelier’s seal atop. When worn, you’re not just wearing a covering for the neck, you’re wearing a piece of history.
